Royal Mail Stamp Sheet to Commemorate West Ham Leaving Upton Park
Some confusion has surrounded the precise issue date since it was advertised as being available from April 8th on the back of a recent Philatelic Bulletin. After some tweeting with Ian at Norphil, MyFootballFacts.com and Royal Mail Stamps we've now received confirmation that a Royal Mail stamp sheet and presentation folder in collaboration with West Ham United to mark the end of their tenure at the Boleyn Ground is on its way.
The original intention was to issue the sheet on 7th May but finalising designs has apparently taken longer than expected. West Ham will play their final Premier League match at the ground against Manchester United on 10th May which would be a fitting day to issue the sheet but we will have to wait and see as a revised issue date has yet to be agreed. We're told that, once the date is known, Royal Mail will publicise it on their website as well as in the next available edition of the British Philatelic Bulletin. We also understand West Ham United will be promoting the sheet directly to its fan base as well as on its website.
And, finally, in case you were wondering West Ham beat Millwall 3-0 on September 1st 1904.
