New Hong Kong Office for Stanley Gibbons

Stanley Gibbons say their new Hong Kong presence has been established to support the growing Asian market for premium, British heritage collectibles as trophy assets and investment vehicles following recent positive press and growing consumer demand. Keith Heddle, Stanley Gibbons’ Group Sales & Marketing Director, said; "With global economic uncertainty and even the price of gold now falling, we’re seeing increasing interest in customers seeking tangible, historical assets as a store of wealth."

Prices for rare stamps are higher than ever with headlines regularly claiming new world record prices as stamps shatter their pre-sale auction estimates. The record price for a Chinese stamp has been broken four times in the past year. In order to track this fast-growing market in Asia, Stanley Gibbons launched their China Rarities Index earlier this year. The index has recorded average annual growth at around 44% between November 2006 and April 2011.

The new Asia office plans to offer trophy assets such as a signed hand-written Mozart manuscript, original letters from Einstein and Bruce Lee as well as major philatelic rarities including very rare examples and multiples of the "Penny Black", the world’s first postage stamp. Stock will be made available to view by appointment only and can then be purchased outright or as part of an investment portfolio to provide a hedge against financial vagaries.

The official opening of Stanley Gibbons (Asia) Ltd in Hong Kong will be marked by a reception at the British Consulate-General on 20th October.

The new Stanley Gibbons office in the heart of Hong Kong’s Central District is at:

Stanley Gibbons (Asia) Ltd
Level 10, Central Building
1-3 Pedder Street
Hong Kong
